The State of the Roads in Wootton

Just before the snow came down yesterday, I counted at least 35 holes of various depths & widths in the Mathews Way, Huxley Close, some of which can cause damage to cars, as well as bikes and pedestrians alike. These holes have been getting worse over the last few months and the bad weather will only make things worse. Just when is the council going to repair them. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. This winter has been disastrous for the local roads and we will be pressing Oxfordshire Highways to carry out the repairs. they had completed quite a lot of repair work before the winter but you are quite right in saying that his has now been undone

A second complaint was posted on the VWHDC website on the 11th Feb, highlighting the increasingly poor state of the whole of Mathews Way, as the potholes were no much bigger in size, depth and numbers since my original complaint.

As the Parish Clerk says in his reply of 14th February, complaints about the state of the roads in Wootton and elsewhere in the Parish need to be addressed to Oxfordshire Highways at the County Council. I am sure that your complaint to the District Council will have been passed on to the County Council and I know that as a Parish Council we are putting as much pressure as we can on the County Council to carry out the repairs in Mathews Way, Old Boars Hill and other roads badly affected in our Parish.

As Parish and District Councillors we do all that we can to get the repairs carried out but the more complaints that come from individual residents the more likely the County Council is to do something about the state of the roads.

My additional concern is that even when the repairs are done the quality of the work is poor.

District Councillor and Parish Councillor
