I would really like a skatepark and many of my friends would too. I think a nice reasonable sized skatepark would get lots of children involved and wanting to use the village a lot more. The reason why I am writing this is because I believe that kids in Wootton need more social space.

Just before the snow came down yesterday, I counted at least 35 holes of various depths & widths in the Mathews Way, Huxley Close, some of which can cause damage to cars, as well as bikes and pedestrians alike. These holes have been getting worse over the last few months and the bad weather will only make things worse. Just when is the council going to repair them.

Is there anyone out there who would look after my well- behaved, quite elderly labrador for a few hours on an occasional basis? He doesn't do much, might need a short walk and just loves company. Very good with children and other dogs. If so, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks

There has been a large white lorry parking overnight in Mathews Way for some time now and it is causing concern for residents in this road and problems entering driveways. It is nornally parked either on the pavement or roadside, outside the flats where the driver lives.
I have consulted the local police and they have informed me that it is an offence for a vehicle of this size to be parked in a resdiential area. Let's get it moved today. |

I was just wondering if there was any guitar tutors in the area, i checked this months newsletter (December) for any information for one but i could'nt find one. It'll be nice to see the opportunity of it, and i'm intrested to be taught on the guitar, i have been playing for a while so i know the basics, but i i've been trying to teach myself and it doesn't seem as good. I will look in the next newsletters for information on this and maybe I might go back on this site if there is a reply about this.

There is a motorcyclist who insists on significantly exceeding the speed limit through the village on a regular basis. Yesterday (June 23rd) he was tearing down Lashford Lane just as the children were coming out of Dry Sandford School. I hope he can explain to the parents of any child he kills or injures that it was really, really important that he be allowed to do this. Residents have tried to signal to him to slow down and are greeted with rude gestures. If anyone knows who this is can they explain to him that what he's doing is dangerous?

Having recently returned from holiday my husband and I were very suprised to see from the Wootton Newletter and the leaflet amongst our mail the proposals by the Oxford PCT.
We have dealt mainly with Dr. Blazewicz who is not only a very hard working Doctor, but also extremely good. Many a time when I have been concerned about my late parents he has given me good advice and also set mine and my siblings minds at rest. Where would you get that sort of help from strangers who know nothing about you! So many of Wootton's residents feel they are known personally by the Doctors, especially the elderly that this would be lost if strangers were brought in. We need to do whatever we can to support our Doctors and we sincerely hope that this proposal is thrown out.

Like many people in the village who have for years been well looked after by this practice of Dr Blazewicz and Dr Chadwick and also in the past Dr's Slater and Marston, I think it is totally discusting that the PCT should even consider removing these highly professional people and replace them with total strangers. I feel that if it does go ahead then within no time at all Botley medical centre wil have to close as they would not have any patients will to go there. This would then cause a major concern for the local community and the PCT would have to have very good reasons to justify their actions. I do not for one minute believe that the way the centre operates at present is deteremental to the care of ALL the patients there , as after all a vast majority are elderly and a change in doctor could have a adverse effect on them

I'm just Writing this to have my Say about the Above.
Like Most People who Visit this Practice as I have for Many Years, and have a Rapport with Dr Blazewicz and Dr Chadwick and to Learn this Morning that these will soon be Replaced with Doctors from this so Called Oxfordshire PCT. Whom no Nothing about us, only Reading Notes from Computers it's just not Good Practce if you Excuse the Pun! I for One will not be Travelling to Any Other Practice and I Urge Fellow Patients to get in Touch with the Relevent Authorities and Voice your Concerns. I Think with More Voices behind us the PCT will have a Bit of a Rude Awakening. I Hope so Anyway.

The 4b bus service which runs through Wootton between Oxford and Abingdon in the evenings and Sundays is under review. The service was subsidised from Section 106 development money from Deerhurst Park. The subsidy runs out at the end of 2009 and Oxfordshire County Council will need to decide whether to cancel the service or subsidise it. The Parish Council believes that we should try to retain the service and will be submitting a petition which can be signed at the Co-op, Bystander or Leo’s takeaway. Individual letters or e-mails can be sent to Tim Darch, Assistant Public Transport Officer, Oxfordshire County Council, Environment & economy, Speedwell House, Speedwell Street, Oxford OX1 1 NE – e-mail: tim.darch@oxfordshire.gov.uk

Speaking to the assistant manager on Saturday, he could not confirm whether a Post Office counter would be re-instated within the expanded outlet, as part of the current planning application. He said the PO had turned down their request on 2 seperate occasions so far. I suggested to put up a suitable poster in the window to encourage us all to make sure this happens. We need to rally the troops and lobby local MP's, the Post Office services and anyone else, in the fight to re-instate our dearly missed local essential service. Come on make it happen.

I do think that it is about time the web site was updated. We no longer have a post office and the opening hours for Leo's have changed... come on, lets make it a New Years resolution to keep it up to date... thanks.
